Teaching Philosophy
Music is a universal language with the power to transport and heal. Playing an instrument is deeply rewarding, whether you pursue it for personal enjoyment or if you have aspirations of becoming the next Hilary Hahn! My approach to teaching encourages students to make their own artistic decisions, express themselves through their instrument, and find the joy in hard work.
Student Expectations:
Maintain good practice habits. 30 minutes of thoughtful practice is better than 1 hour of un-thoughtful practice.
Be prepared for lessons. Students should always have their instrument and any learning materials at the beginning of each lesson.
Come to lessons with an open mind. Curiosity is essential to learning.
Teacher Expectations:
I am here for you. During our lessons, I am fully focused on developing your musicianship. Between lessons, I am available via email or scheduled phone call for any clarifications on assignments.
I will work with you. With over ten years of teaching experience, I understand that each student is unique. I will tailor my lesson structure to fit the needs of each student.
Encouragement and motivation: I will strive to create a positive and inspiring learning environment, motivating you to reach your full potential and celebrating your achievements along the way.
